Its not the sort of question that has an easy answer, but its not a complicated solution either. There is really no exact answer to a best product when it comes to organic nutrients. Organic gardening is more about a system of gardening - Crop rotation, mulching, composting, vermicast, and companion planting all form a part of an Organic Gardening System. The best place to start is to create 2 or 3 compost heaps in your backyard. Whether you use a Compost Bin, Tumbler, Stack or Compost bays the end result will still be the same - A nutrient rich soil conditioner and mulch ready to add to your vegetable garden. You should always ensure your compost heap receives sufficient heat in order to destroy seeds that may be present from lawn clippings and weeds. If You Really Love Me

It does, however, speak to a major control issue. Controlling individuals want you to spend all your time only with them, or, put another way, they want your total and complete attention. Even when a controlling individual doesn't want you around, they expect you in some way to be giving them attention (thinking about them, doing for them) and they don't want you giving your time and attention to anyone else unless it is part of - doing something for them. Don't fall into the trap of "if you really loved me you'd spend more time with me," or any variations on that theme. Someone who tries to guilt you into spending more time with you isn't being loving, they are being manipulative. As the relationship grows and develops over time, your respective activities and interests naturally integrate into the relationship, and your time together will naturally shift and change accordingly. The key word is time, not "time" as in "more time with the new person," but "time" as in take the time to see how the various parts of your lives shift and change to fit well together before you give heart and soul away. HIPAA And How It Will Affect Your Office

First, there are no HIPAA police. No one is going to come into your office to inspect you to see if you are HIPAA compliant. A complaint must be filed in order for any action to be taken. What is HIPAA? HIPAA stands for The Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act. It was enacted by the federal government in 1996 as part of a healthcare reform effort. HIPAA is intended to ensure confidentiality of all patient related health care information. It also intends to simplify the administrative processes of health care, thereby reducing the costs and administrative burdens of health care. One thing to remember is that the HIPAA Act uses the word reasonable several times. You and your office staff must do whatever reasonable to protect your patients privacy. For instance, smaller medical offices do not have to take the same privacy measures as large hospitals do. That would not be reasonable. Also, there are no privacy police. No one is going to come in and inspect your office randomly. Someone must file a complaint first. The complaints will be handled by the Office of Civil Rights. If someone puts in a complaint, then it will be investigated. The fines are very high, so you will want to be sure that your office has good privacy practices and that they are followed all of the time. Another thing to keep in mind is that the type of your practice may determine the level of privacy that you need to acquire. For example, patients in an optometrists office may not be as concerned about people knowing they are there, as opposed to patients in a mental health office.
There are several different components of HIPAA, each one having its own implementation date. Section 2: The Privacy Component : implementation date: April 2002 1. You must do everything within reason to protect your patient's privacy. 2. Patient's files and information should be kept in a secure section of your office, a section that is not accessible by other patients. 3. Charts should not be left lying around, open where someone can read it. 4. If you are making a phone call about a patient or to a patient, you need to do it from an area where you cannot be overheard if you will be giving out personal information. For example, if you are calling their insurance company, and you will be saying the patient's first and last name, date of birth, ID#, and/or a diagnosis, then you do not want to do it where others, perhaps in a waiting room, can hear you. 5. If patient's charts are ever removed from the office you need to have a policy in place. For example, you should have a sign out sheet which states the patient's name, date taken, by whom, and then signed back in when the chart is returned. 6. If charts are removed , they should be carried in a case that is marked confidential - medical records. If you were ever involved in an accident, or separated from the bag for any reason, either authorities or medical personel would secure the information for you. Or you would have at least done whatever reasonable to protect that information. 7. If computer screens are in a position that patients can view them, you may want to move them, or get a screen cover. A screen cover makes it so that the computer screen can only be read when directly in front of it.
The above are just some things that you will need to consider when becoming HIPAA compliant. Each office will have its own areas that need to be reviewed. The above are many of the common areas. As for the standardization of procedure/diagnosis codes, this just means that you must use CPT-4 codes for procedure codes and ICD-9 codes for diagnosis codes. Section 4: Security Component: no implementation date set yet This component requires that health care professionals, Billing Services, and clearing houses take appropriate security measures to assure that health information pertaining to an individual remains secure and is not accessible by others. Things to consider: Where is your fax machine? Is it in a place where only office staff can access incoming faxes? Is it on 24 hours a day? When you are not in the office (after office hours) can anyone else access your fax machine?
Whenever you fax personal information about a patient you should use a fax cover sheet with a confidentiality statement. The statement should explain that the following fax contains personal medical information and that if the fax is received by anyone other than the intended party, that the fax should be destroyed and they should notify you that it was received in error. Do you hire a cleaning person/crew? Are they in the office when you are not? Do they have access to the patients personal information? You may want to ask them to sign a confidentiality statement. Do you rent office space? If yes, does your landlord have access to your office? Do they ever enter your office without you being present? If they do, you may want to ask them to sign a confidentiality statement. By asking people who have access to your office to sign a confidentiality statement, you are making a reasonable attempt to protect your patients privacy. It is not always reasonable to never allow anyone access to areas that contain private information. If those people sign an agreement and then breech that agreement, you would not be held responsible. If you do any business by email, you will need to use an encryption service. This will ensure that if anyone were to intercept your emails, they would not be able to read them. Section 5: Privacy Officer All offices must designate a mandated privacy officer. This person would be responsible for making sure all staff are HIPAA trained and that privacy policies are typed up and followed. They would also be the person that staff members or patients could go to with any concerns or questions about HIPAA compliance. Even if you are a very small practice, you MUST have someone designated as the privacy officer. It may even be the Doctor themself. Section 6: Release of Patient Information/Consent You need to have the patients written consent in order to release any of their records/information. (Exception: If request is due to immediate/urgent care of patient.) You should review your current consent and authorization forms to make sure they are HIPAA compliant. HIPAA requires you to obtain consent for the use and disclosure of information from each of your patients. You may refuse to treat patients who will not sign the consent form. Section 7: Unique Identifiers: No implementation date set yet HIPAA will mandate the use of unique identifiers. More to come on this component. Most likely you will have one national provider number, instead of a different provider number for each insurance company. Section 8: Policies and Procedures Required by HIPAA 1. Identify people on your staff who require access to protected health information. 2. Prevent access to protected health information by unauthorized persons. 3. Ensure that the minimum necessary amount of information is released for routine disclosures (only release information pertaining to what is requested, not the patients entire file.) 4. Verify the identity of the requestor of information. 5. Provide patients access to their records, the opportunity to request corrections, and access to and accounting of disclosures. 6. Every office must have written policies regarding privacy practices. Summary Evaluate your physical office for potential privacy and security risks. One of the best things that you can do to become ready for HIPAA is to walk through (better yet - have someone else walk through) your office as if you are a patient. Look around at EVERYTHING. What do you see? Do you see any personal patient information, charts in full view? Start right from the front door, and go through every room in your office, especially the rooms that patients have access to. Then continue to do periodic checks to ensure ongoing compliance. Make sure that you have written policies regarding any privacy practices, such as removing charts from the office, faxing patient information, reviewing any complaints from patients, etc. Also, make sure you designate a privacy officer. Make sure all staff members are trained regarding HIPAA policies. Remember to train any/all new employees regarding HIPAA policies. You should also review your current HIPAA policies regularly. When The Job Kills, What Next?
By Laurie Sheppard You say the job is killing you. Here are some questions to help you assess your situation clearly before you chuck it all. What happened, you or them? Somewhere along the line things changed. Your role shifted. Your work became redundant. Your boss became unbearable. Your co-workers dont respect you anymore. Something started looking different. How much of this is due to other people and what is your responsibility? Is the problem all work-related or have you experienced changes in your personal life? Determine the weak links, because wherever they are, if you dont identify them and correct them now, youll bring those problems with you to your next job. Do you know your strengths and weaknesses? If the problem centers with you, then before you decide on a career change, go to counseling, hire a coach, or do what it takes for you to regain your confidence and be able to make a clear, reason-based decision. You cant afford to be one of the walking wounded at this job or in looking for new work. If you try to pass yourself off as passionate and ready for new opportunities, then you will likely show up as inauthentic. Its time to do an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses - behaviorally and in transferable skills. Sit down. Write them out. Undervaluing as well as over-inflating yourself and your capabilities does a disservice to your job search. Accurately assess the expertise you bring to this field or any new field youre considering. What do you want? If you dont clearly visualize your ideal work, youll always be treating symptoms of a deeper pain of dissatisfaction. What excites you? Where do you shine? What are your high-priority values? What do you prefer but could live without? What do you absolutely want in your work type and work environment? What would you be giving up? Assess your pain quotient. No one else can do that for you. Your current gripes may have caused you to lose touch with what benefits the job held in the first place. Make a list of positives and negatives to rate your job experience. Its important to know what youll be giving up or, if you stay, what youll change to stop the pain. Weigh the positives against any risks in not being able to replace them in new work. Will you jog or sprint to the exit door or avoid it altogether? Unemployment Blues: Life Changing Events
By Virginia Bola, PsyD If we are unlucky enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, we experience a personal tsunami - a misfortune of devastating proportions that sweeps away our routine lifestyle and forever changes the world we know. Yet despite the frequency of such events - the tidal waves of Asia, the hurricanes of the Gulf Coast, the loss of life in the Middle East, the wildfires and mudslides of California - most of us are only indirectly affected. We bleed for those who have lost everything, give what we can out of our pocketbooks and our hearts, but our world is essentially unchanged and we move along in our personal life journey relatively unscathed. The vast majority of us will never undergo the wrenching jolt of a major disaster, natural or man-made. The sheer size of the human race insulates millions of us from the floods, the bombs, and the mayhem. For us, the life-changing events we experience never hit the front page. Personal, quiet disasters - divorce, death, bankruptcy, or unemployment - change our lives forever but remain unnoticed by all but our closest friends and family. We pick up the pieces and try to get it together without government or private succor and support. It is the isolation of personal loss that is so emotional destructive. We struggle alone to try to make sense of what went wrong and how we can recover our equilibrium. Others are sympathetic and wish us well but there is an abyss between those who have a job and those who cannot find one. The longer we are out of work, the more alienated we become. Even those who love us start to worry that there's something wrong with us. They start to suspect that we're not as motivated as we say we are. Everyone has plenty of glib advice: "Have you tried . . . ?" Of course we have -many times and always without success. We become more disheartened as we analyze everything we've done and realize we have tried every trick in the book and still cannot find anything suitable. Some of us get stuck in depression, anger, or paralyzing anxiety. Our energy drains away and even the smallest action becomes more and more difficult. As frustration and financial pressures mount, we wallow in the unfairness of it all and reminisce about how perfect everything was when we had a job and a future and hope, wondering why all this had to happen. As with hurricanes and tsunamis and terrorism, the victims are not responsible for the catastrophe they face. Life-changing events do just that - change our lives, sometimes forever. Change can be negative, fear-provoking, and desperately uncomfortable. But, if we look closer, we'll see it also has a positive face. Without change, our modern world wouldn't exist. We would be living the way our ancestors did. And while olden times may sound attractive in their pristine simplicity, such times were filled with disease, inequality and a raw brutality we could not stomach today. We need to embrace change and, despite the turmoil it brings, look for the silver lining hidden within the storm clouds. Although you now remember your job with nostalgic affection, there were undoubtedly times that you wished you could quit. Even if you loved what you were doing, any single job position only taps into a small part of your potential. Being forced to make a change allows you to develop other domains of your personal character. Try to analyze your interests and preferences and identify things you would like to do which have not been utilized by your prior jobs. Can you think of an industry or a particular job title that might allow you to move in a new direction? Think about, and complete some preliminary research on, jobs in new industries that you might be able to do. You may not have directly related experience but there are common themes that permeate every kind of work: the ability to communicate, to work as part of a team, to learn rapidly, to be aware of details, to organize and prioritize. If you pick an area of genuine personal interest, you enthusiasm will clearly and naturally emerge and that is something all employers seek. The job hunting you have been doing may, without your realizing it, have become routine and uninspired. The experience of failure and the frustration of never receiving positive feedback may have led to your merely "going through the motions," already convinced, in your own mind, of the futility of your efforts. Taking a new direction can open up your job search tunnel. Instead of beating your head against the wall and revisiting every technique and lead you've tried before, moving into a different environment may give you a new sense of purpose and appreciation of your own potential. That is when the positive effects of forced change can become a new source of pleasure and satisfaction. Which Antidepressant Is Best For Me
By Jeffrey L Wilson You are diagnosed with depression and your doctor is suggesting medication, now what? The decision to take antidepressants may seem simple ... you take them and they make you feel better, right? Not necessarily. There is so much more you need to consider before taking that first pill. Antidepressants have helped many people get back on the road to recovery, but they arent always the perfect solution. Antidepressant drugs are touted to help reduce the extreme sadness, hopelessness, and lack of interest in life that are typical in people with depression. But if antidepressants work at all it is by numbing out the patient to the pain they are experiencing. I can look into peoples eyes and tell if they are taking the drugs. I can see that they are in a pharmaceutical coma and not able to really experience life to the fullest. These drugs have become the modern day equivalent of snake oil and are used to treat conditions, such as obsessive compulsive disorder, premenstrual syndrome, chronic pain, eating disorders, and bed-wetting. Some of the side effects that can be caused by antidepressants include dry mouth, nausea, nervousness, insomnia, headache, sexual problems, unable to sit still, fatigue, runny stools, diarrhea, blurred vision, constipation, difficulty urinating, and impaired thinking. The side effect that is the most potentially deadly for a depressed person is suicidal ideations (thoughts of and making plans to kill yourself). Side effects can be as bad, if not worse, than the depression that the medication is intended to treat. Long-term side effects of antidepressant medications are unknown. In rare cases the use of an antidepressant may be the right choice. But the patient must understand that the pill will not cure them. It is merely covering up the symptoms. A better approach would be counseling because antidepressants have a unique way of controlling your life. You fear that without them you will be worse off. My doctor had so thoroughly convinced me that I was sick and that I would have to take these drugs forever that my life centered on my doctor visits and getting my prescriptions refilled. Depression is a serious issue. It darkens vision and distorts thinking while draining joy and pleasure from life. When depression interferes with your work, play, and relationships, its time to take action. The decision of how to treat depression should be made carefully and will be different for different people, but personal action is the key to recovery. Deciding to take antidepressants is a major decision. If your doctor suggests that you take an antidepressant, make sure you have all of the facts and weight the possible benefits against the side effects. I am not suggesting that you avoid medication but my hope is that you will ask questions and get informed so that you can stay safe. The Easiest Marketing Plan You'll Ever Find
By Stuart Ayling When it comes to marketing theres simply too many choices. I often find clients are totally perplexed about which marketing tools they should use and how to use them. To help make your life easier Ive created the simplest approach to marketing that youll ever need. Use it to plan your marketing program for next year. There are only three things to think about. I call it the FAR way to market your business. F is for Focus. 1) Decide who your target audience really is. Be ruthless, but think big. Who will pay for what you have to offer? 2) Then decide which benefits you are offering them. Think of it from the clients perspective. Describe what the client will get not what you will give them! A is for Approach. 1) How are you going to approach the people (or businesses) you have chosen as your target audience? And when, or how often, will you do this? Dont waste your time with half-baked ideas that have no basis in reality. Find out what they read, who they speak to, what they respond to, or where they hang out. Dont guess. 2) Then sit down and think about what resources you will need to put all that into place. By resources I mean: - Finance (dollars, euros, moolah) - Materials (like printed brochures, newsletters, letterhead etc) - Time (who is going to do it) - Technology (do you need new software like database, email service provider, desktop publishing) R is for Response. 1) What response do you want your prospect to take? Be specific. Will they be telephoning you, or going to your web site, or faxing back a form, or emailing, or dropping in to see you. Often the response will be influenced by the method of communication and the offer you are making. 2) What will be your response when they contact you? This is the start of your sales process. Will you ask for further details, or phone them back for an appointment, or take their payment details, or qualify them before going any further. You must decide what is the next step. Then make sure it happens when they contact you. There you have it. FAR. Three little steps that can make your marketing decisions so easy and so effective. Because they start with the client. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but somebody has to. Finding the job you want "aint gonna be easy". People would actually rather stay where they are and be miserable than take the time to find something better. Too many people give up because "life" gets in the way and inertia slows. I understand that life happens and that many of the reasons that people give for not changing jobs are valid, but I also know that just by changing a few things in your life, you can carve out the time needed to make your life better. If you follow the 6 suggestions and ideas in this article, you will get where you want to go a lot faster. So lets get started. 1 First And Foremost, Get Your Personal Life In Order As Best You Can. Before you start looking for a new job, be sure that your personal life is "in order" and prepared to accept what it takes to find a new job. You are going to need a lot of quality time and support at home in order to find the job you want. Place your job campaign ahead of all other personal priorities. Make a commitment. This doesn't mean ignore your family by any means, but it does mean that some things will need to be sacrificed. If you have a choice between working on your resume and going to you sons concert, go to the concert. But if you have a choice of watching Monday Night Football or working on your cover letter, well you get the picture! 2 - Set a target amount of time you will spend on your job search each week and stick to it. As with so many other things in life, you get out of it as much as you put into it. I've seen books entitled, 20 Minutes to a Better Resume, and so on. I'm sorry, but if you really want a great cover letter and resume, you have to spend a lot more than 20 minutes to make it right. Even a half hour to one hour a day is better than nothing. 3 - Begin gathering facts, figures and accomplishments about your career to date. Dates of employment, job titles and responsibilities, salary progression, major achievements, special skills that make you unique, educational background, including any courses you've taken since college or high school. Be sure to include any training your company has provided or courses they have paid for. Get it all down on paper because you'll need it to write your resume, cover letter and on interviews. 4 - Create your own personal portfolio. When advertising agencies are looking for new clients, they always show you their "portfolio". This usually includes copies of their finest work, achievements and the great results their campaigns achieved. You also have a product to "sell" - its you! Consider that you are your own company. Its called "ME INC." As president of ME INC. you need to create a product that your prospects (in this case a potential employer) sees value in and is willing to "buy" (literally and figuratively). A good portfolio will visually demonstrate and support your abilities during an interview. Anything that is not proprietary, confidential or property of previous employers should be kept in your portfolio. This works particularly well for artists, marketing personnel, architects, designers, etc. Some of the things you might want to include could be catalogs, brochures, letters of success, anything you created like ads, PR, reports, patents, products, etc. Any successful "before and after" campaigns work particularly well. 5 - Create a list of companies that you think you'd like to work for. Get the address, phone number and the name of the CEO/President if possible. You can get this information from the ads you cut out from the newspaper or from your local Chamber of Commerce (they usually have a list of member companies that might be helpful). Many local business journals publish annual "LISTS" editions. These usually list the top 10-25 companies in different categories including the largest private and public companies, largest Advertising and Public Relations companies, largest non-profits, etc. Creating this list helps you focus your energies on a smaller group of target companies. This is a "rifle" approach versus a "shotgun" approach. 6 - Get organized and be ready for the months ahead with these final 6 suggestions + Get a personal/private cell phone if you can so you are not making phone calls from your work office. Make sure to take off all those cute greetings too. Get a home answering machine and again change the message to be more professional. + Appearance counts! Make sure that you have the right clothes to go on interviews. This doesn't necessarily mean formal suits. Your wardrobe should match the industry you are in and the job that you seeking. + Try to find a quite place in your home that you can devote to your job-hunting effort. A home office is ideal if you have one. + Change your e-mail address to something appropriate. You'll need to find people you can trust. Start gathering their names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses now. You'll also need to set up a system of tracking who you send resumes to and what job you were applying for. Remember, in the end, no one owes you a job. It truly is your responsibility to find a job. Sure, there are recruiters, friends, etc. but the bottom line is that you can't/shouldn't depend on anyone else to get you a job.
